Update on my status...late posting

I left yesterday to go back to the sand of Iraq. It has been an interesting journey so far. I was scheduled to fly out of North Bend at 0900 but the flight was delayed in North Bend for 3 hrs. My parents came to see me off at 0900ish so we went to their house and my mom made everybody a latte, which was very good. We then went back to the airport, loaded onto the plane (after rushing through security) then as we were set to taxi off the pilot shut down the plane due to weather. we had at least another hour before take off so I was gonna go spend it with Roxann anDrew but couldn't leave security so Roxann and I had to see each other through a glass wall. I thought to myself what it must be like to be in prison. Andrew was getting tired so she took him home. Roxann came back while I was downstairs playing on my iPhone and I didn't see her until a lady pointed her out to me. After loading onto the plane I was moved to the back bench seat and had it all to myself, it was great because I could stretch my legs out. I saw Roxann watching me leave. I waved and opend'n'cloased the window shade but could not get her attention.

gotta go...write more later

So here I am back in Iraq...I got back on the morning of the 13th and slept for quite awhile. Today was my first day back on the job. I did was at the clinic from 10 - 3 and gave a lot of H1N1 shots today. It felt good to get back into the swing of things but I sure do miss being home.

What's Missing In This Picture

Oct 27, 2008

Me and my baby boy (sorry not the best pic)...It's hard to believe that was a year ago. I didn't know whether I should laugh or cry when he was born; definitely one of the top 10 days of my life!

Ok, so here's a picture almost 1 year later...wait second!!!...there's something missing in this pic!?!?!?...oh! that would be ME!!! that's because I'm over here in Iraq. I love you Andrew, I wish I could have been home with you for your 1st birthday. I love you and miss you bunches. You make me smile every time I get to see you!

Another Day With Rain.

Today it rained twice, Once early this morning and and again mid-afternoon. The previous post is incomplete and I do apologize for that, however, the amount of time it takes to load pictures here I will have to add to it later.
Things are going good here and I am excited I get to come home soon; not as soon as I was hoping but then again I am in the military and things change often.

Great Ziggurat of Ur

Stairway down to royal tomb
Interpreter

These window like holes were designed to allow structure to drain rain water. The structure is actually a mound of dirt with walls built around it.

oldest known arch in the world

steps leading to top of ziggurat

me with ziggurat in back ground

I was able to visit the "Great Ziggurat of Ur" on Oct 11th, it was very interesting. To the South is several other structures; temple, palace, peasant tombs (I believe approx 2,000 graves were found, Royal tombs, a large house which was supposedly Abram's house before he left Ur of Chaldees. Strange Weather

This must be the season for strange weather. Ninety degrees at home in Oregon and rain here in the desert. I stepped out of my CHU Sunday morning around around 8:00 and it was really muggy, I later found out it had rained around 5:30 that morning for a few minutes. I checked the weather in Baghdad and there was a chance of showers with about 55% humidity. I realize these past two blogposts are short but I guess its better than nothing.

Playing Drums In The Dark

I just came back from the chapel to practice the drums to play tomorrow for church. All the lights were off and nobody was there. I decided that since I had a mp3 player with me and I went over to practice I might as well practice. I groped along along the wall to find my way then found the drum stool. Luckily most drummers set up there drums similarly so I found some sticks and just started playing. It was pitch black, I missed a few tom-toms and the cymbal a few times but it was fun and I'm glad I was able to still play.
